Title: Mach3 How to use A Axis(Stepper) as Spindle?
Post by: hitchhiker on October 15, 2020, 09:18:56 AM
hi!

i have bought a rnr motion control eco v2 usb unit.

this unit not support dir/step on spindle.

now i want to use my A Axis as Spindle.
my A Axis is a Nema34.
i know that a stepper is not a good choice.
i want to test something and play arround.

i read that SwapAxis(3,6) change the A Axis to Spindle.
but if i enter this in the commandline in Mach3 i got an error.

how is the swapAxis function to use?
where do i enter it?

thanks

Where did you read that you can swap axis with the spindle ?? The spindle is not classed as an axis so I do not believe what you want to do is possible in Mach3. Even IF it worked when you swapped you would NOT have a normal spindle operation. I have done cylindrical grinding AND offset grinding (cam grinding ) with mach3 but it takes special considerations in scripting(macros) and CAM to make it all work.

Just a thought, (;-) TP
