Title: Help a newbie
Post by: Andrei Cristian on October 10, 2020, 10:39:31 AM
Hello everybody, i just bought a 6040Z, this wonderful chinese machine comes with mach3, now, this program beats me, hard, i almost hate it, i couldn't find help anywhere else so i decided to make a post here.

My problems are:
the machine homes X and Y before Z, which caused me to brake a almost brand new end mill
the spindle speed max is defaulted to 8000 even though my spindle can do up to 24k

I only hope there's somebody here that can help me, cause i've spent two days already trying to figure it out and all i found was people having trouble setting their limit switches, which i dont (yet) have

Thank you.
Andrei

So, i managed to figure out how to toggle the spindle so that's fine now.

only 2 days?! ha ha.
i'm a newbie myself.
I suggest editing the macro that homes the machine, and switching the operation, so that the z homes first, or at least retracts all the way.
you might could try in the menu [operator]---[edit button script]---(select button for homing)
or see if you can find the macro in the mach3 macros folder.
about all I know, maybe it will get you started till someone more knowledgeable can post.
cheers,

first off all, you have to tell us how you start the homing.

by pressing Ref All Home button?

On mach3 Go to config
On global settings mark little square allow safe_z Moves
choose first round CHOOSE  safeZ DRO is in machine Cordinates
on Safe-z place a number where you want Z to be Before home OR STOP
in optional
choose goto safeZ when stop button is hit
 then press Ok
