Title: Can a Lenovo X220 laptop be used as a CNC controlling computer?

I have read where some laptops won't work if it has a centrino processor or internal powering down that can't be shut off.

I have gone through all the settings and disabled every screen saver, every energy saver, sleep mode, etc.   It's set so the processor is on maximum at all times and it doesn't shut off as long as power is to it.   

Therefore, was curious if anyone else has used a Lenovo business laptop and been successful.

If you have truly disabled all the power-saving features then your laptop should work just fine with Mach3 and a suitable motion controller.

Hi,
Mach3's parallel port does not like, and may not even run on a laptop.

You should have no problems if you use an external motion controlller like an Ethernet SmoothStepper
or a UC300.

In the Windows Device Manager, try to change the Computer type from ACPI to Standard PC
