Title: cant get computer to talk to mach 3

running xp mach 3 working on computer but not moving machine using usb can someone please help me as i am new

Hi,
you haven't provided much information.

You say you are using USB....what USB board specifically?

I presume that it is a USB motion controller, if so you have the USB controller plugin installed and selected as motion controller?

i dont know my wife bought me a 6040 cncest running a prt-e1500w controller from china doesnt have parralel just usb printer cable can get program to work on computer but wont control machine but the motion controler i dont know which one i have any help for a begginer would be appreciated and some patience with me would be appreciated

Can you post some pictures of the control and the board inside it, did you get any software with it, if its USB there will be a driver you need to load/copy into Mach3

When you start Mach3 go to menu 'Function Cfg's' and click on 'Reset Device sel...'  Close Mach3 and start it again, post a picture of the small device window that pops up.
