Title: Mach 4 on Windows XP version 4.2.0.4162
Post by: John Interact on April 18, 2020, 06:20:37 PM
I'd like to install Mach 4 on a windows XP machine.

It is recommended to use version 4.2.0.4162

However this file is not on the FTP site.

Should I go with the latest version 4.2.0.4300 ?

What to do?

John

Hi,
firstly this post belongs on the Mach4 General Discussion board, no doubt tweakie will shift it.

My understanding is that 4162 is the last build to be XP compatible.
If you want to use a later build, by all means try but don't be suprised if it fails. The obvious solution is to use
Windows 7 or better still Windows 10.

Thank you. But where can I download this build?

I wonder why its disappeared from the FTP server?

Hi,
ask NFS.

Its old and the ftp site has the lateset builds only, no doubt the earlier build will be archived somwehere,
but why bother just get an up to date OS and get on with it.

Yes this is the plan. Windows 10. But not until I have the funds.
I'll email NFS then.
Thanks.

If you still need it, I can send you the original installer for the 4.2.0.4162 hobby edition. I happen to still have it on my thumb drive.

best regards

Thanks so much Brandon. Ive abandoned the windows xp plan. I've ordered a micro pc capable of running
windows 10.. all solid state. It was only a temporary idea anyway. Probably 18 years old the xp box.. it did have
windows 2000 on it when i dug it out of the cupboard. It was like going back in time booting that up!

Cheers
