Dear group, please help !
I have an X3 Sieg (Promica set up), and have safety switches on x, y and z. When I Ref All Home, the Z just moves down and dosent stop . This is a new thing, as it used to move up until the safety switch trigger - then x and y would move.
I have no idea what has happened and appreciate any help !! :-[ :-[
Thankyou
Anthony

does z-axis move up and and down if you drive it in Manual mode?
-
Thankyou for your reply TPS - yes I can manually control the z with the ] and ' keys
-
then Config -> Homing/Limits -> Home Neg. seams to be wrong
-
Thanks TPS, can I ask what I should be looking for?
Thankyou
Anthony

if you go to Config -> Homing/Limits there is a collumn Home Neg. where you can select the dirction of homing.
from the Manual:
5.6.1.1 Referencing speeds and direction
The Config>Home/Softlimits dialog allows you to define what happens when a reference
operation (G28.1 or a screen button) is performed.
Figure 5.16 Shows the dialog. The Speed% is used to avoid crashing into the stop of an axis
at full speed when looking for the reference switch.
When you are referencing, Mach3 has no idea of the position of an axis.
The direction it moves in depends on the Home Neg check boxes. If the relevant box is checked then the
axis will move in the minus direction until the Home input becomes active. If the Home
input is already active then it will move in the plus direction. Similarly if the box is
unchecked then the axis moves in the plus direction until the input is active and the minus
direction if it is already active.

I hope you can help :-[ :-[

so lets do some tests
if you Trigger the z-axis home Switch can you see it changing in diagnostic Screen?
in Manual mode if you press page up button z-axis goes upwards and z-axis dro is going to plus?
if you are in diagnostic Screen, what is Happening if you press the Ref Z button?
-
Thanks TPS. !!!
Ok, so if I move my Z all the way up, there is no change in the diagnostic screen
Yes, as the Z moves up, the numbers increase positive
In diagnostic screen, if I press z (picture yellow circle) it moves down
Thanks TPS

Ok, so if I move my Z all the way up, there is no change in the diagnostic screen
so check your Limit Switch für z-axis
Yes, as the Z moves up, the numbers increase positive
thant is ok
In diagnostic screen, if I press z (picture yellow circle) it moves down
then Change Config -> Homing/Limits -> z-axis -> Home Neg.

Thanks again TPS !
Ok - so the Z moves up now. I dont think my limits switches are switched on, as none of them work. How do I switch them on?
In case they are faulty, I have attached a picture - do you know what this is?
Many thanks

normaly first Thing is to figure out how they are wired to your Controller/ parallel port.
on the Picture you posted i can't se any wiring at all??!
and after the wiring is clear in Config -> Ports&Pins -> Inputs
-
Hi TPS, thankyou again. It seems that he wiring goes straight into the plug - I put a voltmeter and the voltages are shown. the + was connected to the + of the voltmeter. it looks like all inputs go to Port 1? Is -2.67V correct - I found that image online and it says its 5V input, but it is +.
The issue is, I dont think its a 4 wire sensor, uless there is resistors hooked up inbetween the sensor and the plug?
Thanks TPS,
Anthony

if it is an optical sensor, i think there should be an external power supply (5V) somewhere.
is there no Manual of the Controller box?
-
Thanks TPS. There is no external power supply - the person who made it had everything in the box. No manuals.
So I suppose I need to open the box and check the power supply to the sensor?

i think so.
