On my lathe I am reusing the stock cross slide screw and I am not positive how to set it up.
I have learned that the cross slide moves .0394 per revolution.
The motor is direct coupled to the screw.
My stepper driver uses 8 micro steps
Do I need more info than this?
I came up with 40,608 Mach 3 steps per unit.
Thanks, Tim

I get 40598.9 steps per unit...

I must have rounded ???
Ok..just wanted to make sure that sounded correct. Thanks again

Not used to inches but 0.0394 per rev seems quite small, is that correct?

This is what I used to base that number on.

Yes I worked it out as 1mm, just seemed a bit fine but it is correct.

actually for your calcs you would be best keeping all the figures on your calculator so divide 1 by 25.4 and your conversion will work out more accurate and may even end up with a better figure to enter into Mach ;)
