Title: Lines in finished Carve
Post by: Chuck D on May 20, 2019, 02:48:07 PM
I am still very new to Mach 3 and CNC router
I ran this carving today with a 1/16 tapered ball nose with a 6% step over 80 in per minute and I hope you can see the textured finish that It produced wondering if it is in the machine itself or a software issue? I will provide answers to questions about settings if needed.
TIA

Is 1/16 tip diameter?
If yes, you should take smaller step over.

Yes  .0625 taperd ball nose.  Smaller than 6%?
That's what everyone recommended.

What kind of wood, and what software created the g-code?
What RPM were you running at.
You would typically get a much better finish than that with 6% stepover.

I use Vcarve pro. Gcode was made from an STL model.
I was cutting Hard Maple at 18k or 24k on my 3hp water cooled spindle

Somebody suggested my CV settings are off.
Do these look right?
I have an import machine with mach3 USB hook up
