Title: Lathe arcs G2 G3
Post by: rhtuttle on May 08, 2019, 11:18:48 AM
Need a little help understanding G2/G3 on a lathe.

What I would like to do is create a series of ribs along some .75" stock.
.125 in length(Z) and .010 in height(X).

Suggestions as to how to calculate the radius or center of the arc?

TIA

I wrote something called Mach3 Turn - Arc Motion a long time ago and should be in Members Doc's.
It covers a lot about arc coding for the lathe and also contains examples of coding.
See page 3 and 4, but, suggest you review all the pages.

That is the best write up I have seen anywhere for arcs on a lathe, thank you!  That along with one of those three points on a circle calculators and I think I have my answer.
