Title: Z climbs during run
Post by: Chuck D on April 28, 2019, 08:01:07 PM
I am not sure of the lingo, so I will tell you what is happening.
I zero machine cords, load Gcode, zero x/y, probe my Z zero, regenerate toolpath, and hit go.
Carve starts in bottom left corner and goes CCW around the outside cutting 2d items. When it gets to top right it starts with some large vCarve words. Once the outside is carved, (all looks fine), then it carves some smaller shallow numbers and text in two columns on the inside field. The left column is mostly ok, but the right column is basically untouched by the bit.
Spoilboard and material are surfaced today.

Decrease Acceleration 25%
I'll try that. I watched a video and the man said that could be a problem if to fast. I am at 25ipm I think. and my Step pulse and Dir Pulse are at 0
Velocity is 230

Gerry, I knocked my acceleration down from 25 to 10, I also refigured the toolpath for the small text. I know I should only change one thing at a time, but those two changes allow me to complete the Carve and the sign looks good.
Changing the acceleration has made my machine run a lot smoother, I may bump it back up to 15 and try that, but for now I will leave it until I am sure all of my bugs are worked out.
If you are ever in the Lansing area I would like to have you out to my shop to look at my Mach 3 and give me some pointers, I would be happy to compensate you for your time.
Thank you so much for commenting on my post and helping me.

If you are using the parallel port, set these to at least 2, maybe even 5.

Then those pulse width settings are not used at all, so don't worry about them.
