Title: Permanent "Home Switch Triggered" Error
Post by: nstewj on April 02, 2019, 07:50:53 PM
Hi,
CNC is China Zone CNC 6040 connected by USB to laptop running Windows 7 SP1.
Starting Mach3 shows Status: Device Error Triggered; selecting Reset changes the status to HomeSwitch Triggered.  At no stage did the 6040 trigger any limit switch.
I have reinstalled Mach3 but the problems remain.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I would guess that you have one of the inputs incorrect which loos to Mach like an Estop error, and
therefore it Estops.

I'm going to make a guess that all your limit switches are wired in series, its a common way to hook up lots of switches but use
just one input. May I suggest disconnecting the limit input from the BoB and see what happens. If it does not change
in Config/Ports and Pins/Input Signals change from active high to active low (or vice versa) all home inputs that were connected
to the input pin from which you disconnected the wire. Does that change anything?

If not on the same page change the Estop input from active high to active low (or vice versa). Does that help?

Clue from Chinese USB driver change log
V2.55 2016.11.23
add information display "device error triggered" when usb device communication error

So your error means you have to fix a "USB device Communication Error" meaning "USB plug-in" is not working.
1. Get updated driver and updated Plug-in for your USB motion Controller.
2. "Run as administrator" when you install all software and plug-ins and when launching MACH3.
3. An illegal copy of MACH3 will not support add-on(s) and plug-ins. So make sure you have a legal copy of MACH3.

Thank you for the two replies - I'll look into both.
Strange thing is that all has been working OK for many months then all of a sudden this problem.
Forgot to mention in initial post was that we had a power drop out while the controller was powered on but without Mach3/router running.

Hi,
Does someone have a link to where I can download the plug-ins?

Identify the exact model number of your USB motion controller first.

It's a Scotle Technology CNC 6040 purchased from Shenzhen Scotle Technology

That is a router model.
You need to open up the control box (power cable unplugged) and identify the USB control card make and model.

or ask the company on facebook

For the MACH3 add-on

Hi,

CNC Mach3 motion control card model MKSX-V (MKS4-V?).

I'm pretty new to all this so pardon my ignorance.  In his post joeaverage mantioned BoB - what is BoB?

A BoB stands for a Breakout Board.

A BoB is required for the db25 parallel port plug to interface with real world circuits, it has buffers and amplifiers etc
but it does not do anything smart.

Your external motion controller may or may not have a BoB in addition to the controller. I would guess that the controller
has the buffer functions built in and therefore you will not have a separate BoB.
