Title: Laser 15W setup with 4axis USB board
Post by: kbelcar on February 21, 2019, 03:54:55 AM
Hi, friends
Need help!
I use this board
 https://cnc1.lv/en/cnc-controllers/273-usb-mach3-100khz-breakout-board-4-axis.html
with my CNC 6040!!
I purchase this  laser
https://www.ebay.com/itm/15W-Laser-Head-Engraving-Module-w-TTL-450nm-Blu-ray-Wood-Marking-Cutting-Tool-o/183115085067?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

How to easy connect laser to this board (Mach3) using only z settings or spindle settings to turn it on or off... (I do not want to make some big modification)?!
Is it possible to use TTL or PWM with this board?

For graving I use Vectric!

Mach3 has a dedicated command set (M11P#/M10P# ) intended for laser switching and I have described its use here; http://hobbycncart.com/publ/cikkek/mach3_temaju_cikkek/switching_a_laser_under_mach_control/8-1-0-29

If you want to control laser output power then this post may be of interest; https://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=12444.msg265104#msg265104

Hope this helps.

Hi,
that USB controller board is not a good one, very little information about them, no one seems to know who
makes them and very few people have ever got them to work properly. It certainly doesn't support G31
probing and the chances it supports laser operations is even slimmer.

I'm not willing to dig the 'net for manual for this chineese board, but, if you find that there's output that can give you pwmwith varyuing dyty cycle, you should be able to controll your laser.

Hi, I cheat my CNC (see video)  :)

For now I'll use push switch with z axe! It's working ok for now :)

Is there a way to use direction pin on my z axis for controling on/off my laser?!

as Tweakie mentioned , get familiar with the M10P# and M11P# functionality.

Would appreciate some help in connecting my laser to the Bitsensor board. Attached is my connection. I can switch the laser on/off and adjust power, but it is not strong enough to make engravings. Adjusting the power also seems to work in reverse, when i increase power in Mach 3 software the power of the lase seems to decrease...
