Hope someone can suggest where to look. I have Taig mill converted to cnc and have ran it on Mach2, TCNC, and cncPro over time. For various reasons I had to set it aside. I need to get it running again and have a new computer for it. A Dell P4 with 1 gig ram. I installed the latest Mach3 R2.4. I can't seem to get the mill to do anything. I beleive that the ports and pins are set up correctly. The steppers have holding torque when it is powered up but I can't get them to move at all.
The drivertest results look good. I don't have a breakout board and am using gecko drivers. Is it possible the newer on board parallel port is causing these problems?
Any suggestions to try?
Thanks,
Al

yes it could be the onboard port is not putting out 5V, a breakout would help if that is the case as most will provide a regulated 5V supply. Have you put a volt meter on the dir pins and made sure you are getting 5V out of the port?

Thanks for the help. That seems to be the problem. I had been thinking of adding spindle speed control so I used this as an excuse and got a bob with speed control.
