Title: Communications error starting Mach3 with G100
Post by: swainsk on July 31, 2007, 11:00:09 PM
I'm getting the following error when starting Mach3 with the G100:

Error during RUN phase: Communication/programming error
1) Enumerator: inst=0 part=1 ecode=813
Unsupported partition number

I'm able to communicate with the G100 using Grex-Loader.exe and believe that I have everything configured correctly. Does anyone know what this error is about?

Where did you get the firmware and plug-in from?

After seeing your post, it seems probable that I did load the wrong firmware. How do I get the Download Manager to work again? Whenever I try to connect to the G100 I get a message that says I can display the web page.

Have a look at this thread. Read the thread, I think it pertains to you too. You can download what I have of the G-100 set-up guide so far. Do you know the IP of your G100? If you have set it up and can't remember what it is, it can be troublesom. Try this, kill the power to the G100, Open the grex loader, power on the g100 and start hitting the find gecko button, not just once, about every 2 seconds. If it hasn't found it in 10 seconds, start over. Power down, etc.

After powering down and starting Grex-Loader, I get an IP address of 192.168.1.31 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (See Image Grex1.jpg). If I set that IP address, refind the Gecko and "Launch Firmware Loader" a browser window pops up and says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (Browser1.jpg). I can ping the address 192.168.1.31 (Ping1.jpg).

The problem at this point is that I have no way to communicate with the G100 if I can't get to the web page.

Once you get the error page, try to cycle power to the G100 and launch firmware loader without closing the firmware loader. You have to be quick.

Good to hear Swainsk.  :) Did you look at the manual? If so, was it helpful?

Yes, I read the manual and it was very helpful. Reading the manual was how I installed the firmware and plugin the first time. I just installed the wrong firmware. After doing it wrong initially, though, it wasn't clear how to get back into the download manager. Once back into the download manager, it was just a matter of following the manual correctly.

Good, thanks. Did you have to change your auto boot time to 0 to load it the second time as I said in the other post? Just feeling around and looking for info. to help in writing the manual.  :)

Thanks,
Brett

Hello,

I have a problem with the G-rex module , I downloaded te firmware into it and know it will not work anymore.

If got the same problem as discribde here in this topic, the same error code

Error during RUN phase: Communication/programming error
1) Enumerator: inst=0 part=1 ecode=813
Unsupported partition number

I also can`t get back in the installation browser to try to download new firmware in te G100.
I can ping it and get a reply, i'm able to communicate with the G100 using Grex-Loader.exe and believe that I have everything configured correctly.

The firmware pluggin is from   http://www.machsupport.com/artsoft/plugin.htm   Version 2.58  Motion Plugin

The discribsion that worked  for swainsk, doesn`t work for me:
''Once you get the error page, try to cycle power to the G100 and launch firmware loader without closing the firmware loader''

Has anybody any idea what I should try next???

If you open the Grex loader, then cycle power to the G100, then start tapping on the find Grex in about 3 second increments does it open the the firmware loader on the second or third try? It will time out usually in 10 seconds, will have to cycle power to the G100 again.

Hello Brett,

I tried to  cycle power to the G100 and start the firmware loader before the 10 seconds it goes in run mode, but it just doesn`t works to get in the mode to load new firmware.
The first time ( the time i was alble to load the firmware ) I jused a straight thruw ethernet cable, later when the problem started I also tryed a crossed ethernet cable. Both seems to
connect to the G100, because the message in the G-rex loader says that succsefull found G-rex.

Is there maybe some way to get the firmware what is now in the G-rex out of it by some sort of reset, so I could try it from the start of again?

Hello,

The problem with not being able to connect to the mach software was a configuration in the mach software, not all the six axis were enabled.
This gives the error I got, now I`am able to use it correctly with mach.

One thing tho, I`am still not able to get into download mode with the firmware downloader, at this point I don`t need it but maybe in the future it
will be needed for firmware upgrades.
