Title: Help with first part and program
Post by: ErnieD on July 25, 2007, 01:17:14 PM
Hi,

I have generated a half sphere using BobCadCam and posted the g code to the controller of my mill, a Tormach 1100. I am having a difficult time understanding where to start. I have zeroed x and y at centerline where I want to start and zeroed z off the surface at a safe distance. When I press cycle start the table moves to a point way off from the centerline so I know that I am doing something wrong or not doing something right.

If someone out there could give me a step by step synopsis of how to go about setting the offsets and whatever else is necessary to get this thing working I would appreciate it very much. As an aside the thing that I am making is a pocket in a piece of steel to use as a swage block for my blacksmithing hobby.

Thanks in advance,

Hey Ernie,
I think it is where you set the origin at in Bobcad/cam.  I would guess it's origin is not in the center of the part you are trying to make.

Brett,

I think you are right but I am still lost.
