The machine.ini file is suddenly corrupted and I only have a very old backup of the file, so I hope someone can help me out recovering it.
I think the file got corrupted because a user of the machine shut down Mach4 during initialization of the program, probably just when mach4 read from the file. Do you know if it stored a backup somewhere, or does any of you know a way to restore the attached file (had to zip it to allow upload). File appears to be full of data, however not something I am able to read with notepad or notepad++.

Congrats to me. I didn't look in the backup folder. Found a good version of the file. All good and sorry for not doing my research properly before posting!

Make your self a spreadsheet in excel
One page for each tab
Then fill it in with your setting ,keep it safe ,then you can rebuild in the event of failure
If it’s a spreadsheet you can keep it updated
Paper copy wins every time for backup

This is an excellent idea. There is a spreadsheet posted in the Mach3 side of this forum for those transitioning from Mach3 to Mach4 but it can also be handy just to collect and save your settings.

I use a seperate disk with a batch file which runs on a windows Schedule which auto backs up my whole Mach4 Folder once a week. Also have a complete Windows image also on an external hard drive. Everyone has that one big failure when a rookie and then you learn real quick like i did haha
