Title: mach won't save cv control settings.
Post by: cruz on May 04, 2018, 07:23:04 AM
hi everyone,

when i change the cv control setting and close mach3 (with or with saving settings) the settings always return to the default ones.
i'm changing the CV dist tolerance from 180 to 10
and the stop CV on angles from 0 to 85.
(to help with corner rounding)
i've allready changed the xml file to read only.

any help/guidelines regardings this problem would be appreciated.

thank you

cruz

The settings are saved in the .xml file.
If it's Read Only, then Mach3 can't save the settings.

So I should change the xml file so that it can be changed by Mach3.
And for saving the settings in Mach3, should I click on save settings and close Mach3 or close it directly?
Or what's the process for that, I read somewhere it's important to do it right otherwise Mach3 won't save anything.

IIRC Mach will auto-save when closing if it has been running for more than a few minutes.

Easy way is to try it - open Mach, no need to ref or reset, Change a DRO, then close and reopen, see if change was saved.

You should never change the file properties of ANY files, unless you know what you are doing, and have a specific reason to do so.

Mach3 should always save your settings when it closes. But when you do change settings, it's a good idea to close and restart right away.

yea that solved the problem, i had it set that way because someone told me to do otherwise mach3 will overwrite the file if you change something in it.

thanks alot guys.

"someone" was displaying his ignorance.
Mach3 always makes a new copy of the XML file when it exits - but it saves the last version in the xmlbackups folder.

If it didn't overwrite the file, then it wouldn't save your settings when you changed them!!!
