I have Mach 4 and want to upgrade to the latest version of Mach 4. Will all my settings and screen changes cover over? I know probably a sill question.

When Mach4 is installed it will overwrite the default profiles. If you have copied
and renamed one of the defaults to make your own profile, it will be preserved.
If you are concerned, you could always copy your Mach4 folder to a safe place
before you install.

If you have modified any of the included modules, they will also be overwritten, So be sure to make a backup copy first as Steve suggests.

Perfect. Thanks. I used to not update mach 3 if it was stable when I built a machine, but it seems as though with Mach 4 I should be regularly updating to the latest version. Would you agree?

I saved my profile and updated Mach. Not all setting came over. Any screen changes I made weren't carried over and some of my input settings changed. But otherwise it went alright.

your profile is one source of personalized settings but not the only source.
When you set up your profile you will be asked to choose a screen set. I used wx4.set for example. Over a period of time I modified that screenset with various
buttons, scripts and so on. If you now update Mach with the latest build wx4.set will AlSO be overwritten and whatever personalisations you've made will be lost.
The solution is to make a copy of one of the standard screensets, I used wx4.set as above but called it Mywx4.set and used that in my profile as the default
screenset. Now any customisations get saved to Mywx4.set and will not therefore get overwritten.
If I understand correctly modules and plugins need to be saved so they can be reused after an update.
