Title: Mach 4 requirements
Post by: Willism on November 23, 2017, 11:29:28 PM
G'day. Im sure you have heard this a million times but im a Newbie to this CDC thing. Im the only one I know who is interested in it so im stumbling around in the dark a fair bit. Ive built a Mill and have it moving about using Mach 3 however I have a very basic understanding of it all. I figured that if im going to learn a new program I may as well learn to use the latest and greatest version, that being Mach4. My question is do I need to buy a new Motion Card given that my board was sold as a Mach 3 compatible board. Its a STB4100 motion card if that helps. I figured at the very least id need a new plugin however i can find no info on the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank
Matt

Hi Matt,

The STB4100 is for Mach3 only. To use Mach4 you need a different controller, there are many to choose from - I use the ESS and you can read-up details here https://www.warp9td.com/index.php/gettingstarted
