Title: Need help, shuttle mode
Post by: nanda on September 15, 2017, 12:04:43 PM
Helo,

what is shuttle mode function?

my understanding, turn the MPG fast, the machine will process its Gcode fast, and when turned slow the machine will move slow.

Is it really like that? if true, I have tried it and it did not work.

I use mach3 and Wireless MPG XHC HB04.

can anyone help?

thank you

nanda,

MPG is short for Manual Pulse Generator. The  rotary encoder is used to manually send pulses to the driver so one can
jog. One needs to configure the MPG in Mach3 to behave as one desires.

It does not run gcode at a fast or slow feed rate.

You  will find information about MPG's in the Mach3 Manual. Please read the manual.

The pendant you purchased has a manual and a plug -in and you should also read it's manual as
all the pendants are a little different in what they provide.

Dear Rich,

thanks for the explanation.

I just experimented with encoder, the output of the encoder I connect with input pins 12 and 11 and i set mach 3 MPG 1 on the pin.
And the results are amazing.
I can use shutter mode.

I've read the manual of XHC HB04, and no explained about shuttle mod.
now I'm trying to contact the seller to ask this problem.

thank you

Dear Rich,

It looks like XHC HB04 can not be used for shuttle mode.

any reference MPG can use for shuttle mode?

Frankly I don't pay much attention to a lot of the pendants available.
You may want to have a look at using a Microsoft X box controller as an option since you can configure it to your liking.
Don't use mine much except when for an occasional use of CopyCat or a video cam. Some of my friends really like using theirs though.

I bought a bunch of small rotary encoders for cheap and use two of them as MPG's. Work great and cost about $10 which includes the
small box I mounted them in.
