Title: Mach3 hardware MPG change scaling on the fly
Post by: bainbob on May 20, 2017, 03:14:40 PM
I bought a Fanuc MPG (works fine) but now I'm trying to figure out how to change the scaling dynamically. I built a control panel and put the MPG on there (wired to a bob). I have a switch on the panel for .001, .01, or .1 inches per handwheel tick. I also have an Arduino talking Modbus to the PC (and to the VFD) but I'm having a hard time with Mach variables (there SHOULD be a complete list / cross reference but I can't find it). Anyway, I want to read the switches with the Arduino and change parameters via Modbus, but so far I can't figure out how that's even done. By the way, I bought one of those stupid USB hand held MPGs and was very disappointed. If you turn the wheel slowly it misses it, if you set the increment too high the motion is jerky. Hopefully interfacing directly to Mach will solve this. Anyone know how to do this?
