Title: Can load Gcode panel put newest file first, by default?
Post by: matthewgwheeler on February 15, 2017, 03:11:52 PM
In the open Gcode panel, files are sorted alphabetically. I'm always looking for the file with the newest date. Is there a way to configure Mach3 to sort files by date, newest first?

I use Mach 3 with the 2010 screens on a WindowsXP Lenovo laptop.

Thanks

Yes,

in the file-open dialogue, click the top right hand button "view options"
select "Details"
click on the date column header

this will sort ascending or descending each click :)

Thanks... But repetition of that process is giving me RSI!  :P

I was hoping for a way to sort by details in reverse, by default. Or at least for Mach3 to remember how I sorted files the last time I opened one.

LOL, see what you mean :)

I tend to keep my working files on a USB stick, only the files for the jobs I'm on. Once finished they get deleted or moved to storage.

This keeps the jobs folder pretty empty.

A custom dialogue box would solve it but thats not going to happen.

Having Mach 3 remember the sort used last time seems like an easy mod and very useful. No new dialog required. I bet the number of users who prefer alphabetical sort is zero.

Do you know where change requests can be submitted? I'm new here.

Thanks Dave.

It wont happen i'm afraid.

No work is being done on Mach3 any more, it was shelved some time ago.

It is what it is from now on.
