I am trying to locate a low profile db26 female to male ribbon cable to connect my smooth stepper to breakout board. I would like to make my own cables but not sure what headers to get and what crimper is used. So I would appreciate either a source for already made cables or how to make my own. Thanks!

You can purchase the cables ready-made from Warp9 http://www.warp9td.com/index.php/order#RibbonCables
or you could purchase the makings (ribbon cable and IDC connectors) via the bay and assemble them yourself - the IDC connectors are Insulation Displacement Connectors and no special tools, other than a small vice, are required for their assembly.

Thanks Tweakie, I ordered flat ribbon, headers, and a clamping device on Jameco.com so I am ready to make cables!

Excellent. ;D

Even better, the ESS connects directly to the BOB without need for the ribbon cables!
