Post by: gravie on November 17, 2016, 02:24:38 AM
i bought a new toy with a heidenhain TNC155 controller.

which is the best ethernet motion conroller for mach3/4 and this milling machine?

ist it better to change to new AC type servos?

I am a big fan of the Vital systems stuff.
I would go with the DSPMC/ip for something that size that will need lots of I/O.
If the motors and drives are usable I would stay with them. A DC motor is rated for 2000 hrs between rebuilds as a general rule IIRC. If you are going to use it a lot, say 40 hours /week, then consider AC or brushless servos.

There are other options and I will let fans of them chime in.

i received the machine yesterday.
its a interact 520 from 86/87 with analog endcoders and fanuc +-10v servo amps for spindlel and axis.

i think, the best way is a cs labs ip-a or dspmc-ip with analog outputs for the axis, and a heidenain 601 exe converterf for the encoders.
so i can replace  now the heidenhain 155  "plug and play" and the servors later.

Sounds like a plan.
