Title: Motor tuning
Post by: kharrisonkevin on September 18, 2016, 04:21:58 PM
My home got hit by lightning so I had to buy a new computer. I got everything off my hard drive. The only screen  that will not come up is motor tuning. What can I do?

Here are the requirements for a pc, doesn't mention Win 10.........

Requirements if using the parallel port for machine control: •Desktop PC (Laptops are not supported) with at least one parallel port
•32-bit version of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 (64-bit versions will not work)
•1Ghz CPU
•512MB RAM
•Non-integrated Video Card with 32MB RAM(Large G-code files, especially 3D files will require a video card with 512MB RAM or higher)
Requirements if using an external motion device for machine control: •An appropriate external motion controller (options can be found on the Plugins page)
•Desktop or Laptop with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
•1Ghz CPU
•512MB RAM
•Video Card with 32MB RAM(Large G-code files, especially 3D files will require a video card with 512MB RAM or higher)

BTW,
Both of my current  "dated" PC's, one a laptop other a tower and they both  use a dual boot systems.
Xp is used for Mach 3 and WIn 7 64 -bit version is used for normal things, but , I use a dedicated Xp
pc for my cnc machines.
FWIW,
RICH

Need to say, to use  the dual boot your will be memory limited / reduced.

Do a search ( windows 10) and you will find info relative  to using windows 10 and Mach.

Can't be of more help, just somewhat deliberately dated on the Win systems, :)

Same thing happened to me once with a XP machine.  Everything worked but no motor tuning page.  I saved my xml file to a different location and reinstalled Mach3.  Brought the file back to Mach3 folder and everything is fine again.

Did you install Mach or just simply copy the folder over from the old drive?

Rename the current Mach3 folder to something like Mach3Old then install Mach (Ver 062 is the latest I would use) to the default C:\Mach3 location. Once done you can then copy your xml, macro folder and anything custom back from Mach3Old to your new Mach3 install folder and see if that helps.
