Hi All,
Need mach3 expert help.
I recently retrofit an old IRIS engraving machine and setup using mach3.
Attached are pic1 = machine layout. I able to setup the X, Y home at upper left with the help of Y home offset.
But when i press the UP arrow key for movement Y=up the it goes down and Down arrow key movement Y goes down.
I tried to reserve it by checking the "reserve" enable mode it goes the same way as the arrow key but all the image to engrave cutted in an inverted image.
May I know is there any setting i made wrongly? PIC3 and PIC4 are my setting.
Please advise.

Place a check in the DirLowActive for the Y axis.

check under homing/limits, this is where it will say reverse rotation. Hope that helps.

That's for homing. That's why it's in the homing section. The Direction is what needs to be changed, as I said, just place a check in the dirLowActive for that axis.

I tried the method but the cut out image is inverted.
Any idea how this works? possible of my cabling need to invert?

Which way is X+?
It should be to the right.
Which way is Y+?
It should be up, or away from you.
If correct, and the image is inverted, where is the origin in your CAM program?
Did you change any of the jogging hotkey assignments?

Thanks for the fast reply.
X is move from left to right +
Y is ( moveable plate ) down to up + but the keyboard arrow down key pressed, the plate movement is up.
I using Aspire 4.5, origin i use center. i only assign the space bar as E-stop.

This sounds like the same trap i recent;y fell into ;)
On a moveable bed mill, pressing down arrow, bed should move away from you, press left and bed should move right.
I thought it was backwards too as i was used to a moving gantry mill not moving bed.
You have to think only of the cutting tool - to move ++ or right, the bed has to move to the left etc.
Think only of the tool not the bed ;)

Yes, like Dave says, if the table is moving, then the Y will be opposite what you think it should be.

Now base on the cutting tool view perspective, I able to understand this opposite movement of Y axis.
Am I able to say that all moving bed mill engraving machine, the Y axis setting for mach3 is this configuration which is different from moving gantry mill?
Because i have another Newing Hall engraving machine to be retrofit with Z-axis stepper which is moving gantry mill type to run using mach3.
Appreciated all the people who advise and guide me. Thanks.

Yes,
if you think about it, the movement result is identical - the TOOL moves to the same position on the bed mill and the gantry mill, it's our brain that messes things up - with both mills at X0 & Y0, an instruction to go Y100 will send the bed mill table towards you and the gantry will move away from you but both tools will be at Y100

The only way i find to use both machines is to always look at the tool and think where i want it to go, ignore the bed or gantry as one will go the opposite way ;)
