Title: help with my VFD
Post by: Krazyrabbit on June 21, 2016, 02:03:31 PM
Hello
I bought a
NEW 2.2KW 3HP VFD 10A 220V SINGLE PHASE VARIABLE SPEED DRIVE VSD DRIVE INVERTER to work with a  Konmison CNC Spindle Motor Kits Milling Spindle Motor 80MM 2.2KW
I cant get the darn thing to work. I've tried to get the seller to reply to my questions but all they say is "WE ONLY SELL".
I’m thinking it is the programing.
PLEASE can anyone provide me with the correct settings so I can get this up and running?
Thank you
Don

Just going by the description, I would guess its a Huanyang 2.2kw inverter and 24k spindle??

There are plenty of setup hints on the web for this popular combo.

Need more info, is it blowing fuses, smoking, dead, lighting up at power-on, have you set the parameters in the drive??

If it is a Huanyang inverter, they usually enclose the instruction booklet with the unit. If there is no booklet, you can download if from their website. There are quite a few settings necessary, and they are listed in the manual. In order to input the settings, there is a "key sequence" described, and then you can step through the settings memory. This is not a "plug and play" device.

Hi,
when I first got my VFD I couldn't get it to work either. It appeared to power up and so on but would
go into current overload when I tried to run my 24k spindle.

I had to read (and reread and reread...and understand) the manual. Turns out it was simple enuf,
as factory default it was set to a V/F curve of 240V at 60Hz, a very reasonable setting for a standard
induction motor but not for a high speed spindle.

To get it to work you will need the manual and to get the best you will have to know it backwards.
There are lots of settings over and above the most basic V/F ones and many of them affect the
rseponse of your spindle.

You probly going to need rs485, matty z huanyang vfd plug in. To control spindle speed with your g code instead of manually adjusting. You might want to try looking up in the manual to restore default factory settings and then physically read all the functionalities of the pd settings so you understand what they do. Then go through the settings manually adjusting them to your spindle output. I think the 1.5kw and 2.2kw are the same. I have the 1.5kw water cooled. If you wire your water pump to relay switch it on woth spindle its pd52 then set to run. Hope that helps.
