hello!
Does anyone know how to limit rpm when working lathe CSS?
I found that it is possible with G96 active CSS but I can not limit the maximum rpm.
Thanks!

It is G48 in Mach.
For example G48 S1000 would limit the RPM to 1000 when in CSS.

thanks Hood!

can you send me a table with all GXX permitted on mach3turn?

Hi Hood
I can't find G48 in either the Lathe manual or the Mill manual.
Wikipedia says g48 does 'Axis offset double decrease', which does not seem right either.
Any suggestions?

It is not in the manual for some reason.
G50 is the norm for this with other Lathe controls but that is already used in Mach to reset scale so G48 is used instead.

Well, OK, but how did you find it?
Syntax? It might be useful...

I can't recall exactly but someone told me, may have been Graham Waterworth.
As said above, simply G48S1000 or whatever S***** you want to limit the spindle to.
This is only whilst if CSS mode though so won't work in G94 or G95 as rpm in these modes are called by the S Word. In CSS the S Word is surface speed and rpm will depend on diameter, hence the need to limit the rpm on some parts as you probably don't want a 400mm dia part spinning at 5000rpm ;)

Hi Hood
Much appreciated, thank you.
Mind you, I don't think I can get a 400 mm part in my chuck. Not sure I would want to either! :-)
Cheers
