Title: Lcam Rev 2.02
Post by: Brian Barker on May 21, 2007, 10:16:24 AM
Hello,
Lcam Rev 2.02 is on the web and there have been many changes (some I hope you will not see)! You will see that there is now  a tool table... The tool table will store the Feed speeds, spindle speed and depth per pass for each tool. You can have the same tool number for more then one tool as well.. So this is how we are thinking that you will use it:

T1 1/2 Inch Mill AL Rough
T1 1/2 Inch Mill AL Finish

This would give you two parameters for the same tool... You also could set the tool number to zero and Lcam will not output the tool number but will change the cutting parameters. So play with it and tell me what you think about how it works :)

There is not table for Plasma but the changes are done to every layer (you should be cutting the same plate in one Tap file). We were thinking that you didn't need to have a table for the plasma but we could be wrong...
There have been no changes to the turn code, we will work on turn after we have Mill and Plasma done.

Thanks
Brian

Hi, Brian

Small problem's.

Clean works after a few clicks to optimize path and remove a redundant line in bottom left square.

At load "Remove Duplicated Lines" misses it and without Auto Clean checked main window Clean doesn't seem to work as above.

Optimize gets Duplicated Lines again, But messes up Optimize Path now.

It would be nice to have a toggle up/down beside "Layer Name" in Info Layer Window

Cut Info Window " Set All Layers" won't up-date All Layers, best I can see.

In "Post Window" Reinstate the Return to Start/0,0 Option Check box,

You've been working hard.

So Nice !! Thanks, Chip

The problem is that you didn't set the tool :( I have tested it here and if you set the tool it will work as it should.
I think we may need to have a dialog box telling you that it is about to post and the tool has not been set.

Thanks
Brian

Hi, Brian

Was editing My post above during your Post, see above.

Cut Info Window " Set All Layers" won't up-date All Layers, best I can see.

It would be nice to have a toggle up/down beside "Layer Name" in Info Layer Window.

This would allow Quick Review of Info before Post without moving back and forth in the Project window through all the Layers & Chaines.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Brian

In plasma mode while loading the above file, "test55Dotpolyline2.DXF"

I'm getting a UnRecoverable Error in "DrawStock" and Lazycam shuts down.

Work's fine in Mill Mode

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Brian

Just downloaded 2.02 LazyCam, That fixed the plasma file load problem, Thanks.

Look's like you did some work on Lathe Code also,Thanks !!

In Mill Mode, The Info Layers, "Cut" send/set to "All Layers", Isn't working.

In Plasma Mode, It's looking Purity Good. !!

In Lathe Mode, See Example's in later Post.

Your "S" key "Rat" is much bigger in Plasma mode than Mill mode and still lock's UP, I no it's just test stuff now.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Brian

Give this Dxf a run, It posts just fine, But it won't offset ether Out or Inside in LazyCam.

In offsets, It looks like LC is using the portion of Dxf that generates the Profile shape, as LC did earlier in normal file in-port.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Wes

I'm using LC version as of todays date, That's the only way i've figured out how to now what Ver.it is, When did you up-date LC last ?

The bottom profile looks good, But top is off in your post, Better than Mine.

I drew the A-foil in Turbo-cad 8, Hand drawn with spline feature, It doesn't relate to any foil data sheet.

Hear's a picture of it in Mach3, ready to cut 20 blade's.

Thanks, Chip

I just updated my lcam and mach3 with the latest betas on the download page  Lcam 2.02 created May 21, Mach3 2.0.073 created May 25.
I was showing these version before but i did a full reinstall just in case.  Fresh downloads and installs.
Same result as i posted.  I've been trying to make mine look like yours but no luck yet.

Art-Brian did ya know that when you install the Mach 3 beta it installs the old version of Lcam?

Hi, Wes

I deleted my LC.xml and wound up with a offset like yours still has a problem on top line.

Thanks for the update on your versions, Helped me figure out the xml was the major problem.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Brian

Deleted my Xml and try-ed it again, It's much better except the nose.

Shown with .01 offset's.

In offsets, It looks like LC is using the portion of Dxf that generates the Spline Profile shape, as LC did in earlier normal file in-port.

Thanks, Chip

The DXF for this is on page 1 & below.

Hi, Art & Brian

Having problems with Pocket & Offset's.

It looks like LC is using the portion of Dxf that generates the Spline Profile shape, as LC did in earlier normal file in-port.

Attached below is DXF for box around air-foil, Trying to cut box area and leave Air-Foil.

Needing Some Help Hear.

Thanks, Chip

You will need to use the zigzag to get it to work :(

thanks

Hi, Brian

With  Zigzag it dose the same, Thy also don't finish the Offset's or Pocket's.

In offsets & Pocket's, It looks like LC is Using the portion of Dxf that generates the Spline Profile shape, Not the Spline, As LC did in earlier normal file in-port's.

Look up a few Post's above,

How about posting this Working/Screen Shot, Show Me The Error's I've Made, Many hours spent for such a blow off answer, Just trying to post bug's I Find.

May Be Me, Been there Before, May Be You, Seen That Too. ;D :o ??? ::) and I now it's a Bata-Bata Version

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Wes

Thanks, If you'll tighten the Offset up close you will see the errors on the off-setting the airfoil, It's not using the Spline line for off set's.

It looks like LC is Using the portion of Dxf that generates the Spline Profile shape for the offset's, As LC did in earlier normal file in-port's.

Just blowing off some Steam Hear.

Thanks, Chip

Yep i see what your saying most of what i do is turn so I'm just using yours as examples.  But i do have a question whats the advantage of doing offsets in Lcam versus using the left and right tool offset?  Beside the fact you just don't have to code them.

Hi, Wes

Well it's a mixed bag, Trying to help de-bug LC, Mach3 G41/G42 don't lead in/out the same, LC will save allot of time in cut and pasting of g-code.

Hears a view of blade cut and Tap file of same with out lead-ins on in LC and g42 tool offset turned on in Mach3 multi cut Gcode.

The lead in look fine the lead out doesn't extend out as it should and cut's off the trailing edge, I've posted this before no time to look at it I guess..

I may be doing something wrong hear though ???

Thanks, Chip

The Extra lines in the drawing is a bug in the importer code..
We have a bug report to the place that is doing the DXF importer code... if we don't hear from them soon we will bump them again...

Once that is fixed we will work on the offset code :)

Hi, Art & Brian

LazyCam Downloaded this morning Ver 2.02

When LC opens, Layers, "Cut Rapid Hight" is 0.0000, After loading a DXF file "Cut Rapid Hight" is 60.0000, WOW Ba-beee... !!.

The 60.0000 value also appears in the Tool "Plunge Feed & Feed Rate", box's with "No Tool" selected.

It's not in the XML, It must be in the main LC code, Shouldn't it be 0 or some lesser value. ?

In Pockets "Spiral" getting the Error Below, With a 0.0625 value set in Parameter, "Tool Dir":, No Error, With a 0.1625 it work's Fine in Spiral and Zigzag ( Just Takes some time to sort-out everything } :D.

The Object to be pocketed is really Big X 407 Y 120 unit's "Meg-a Test Hear". :)

Final Error is "EndGLDraw1".

As I've stated before, It would be nice to have an indication that LC is Processing Data and a way to Cancel / Terminate the current Operation. ?

Windows is showing that LC isn't Responding, "WHEN IN FACT", It's working very hard and not Error-ing Out or Crashing.

Thanks, Chip

Hi Chip,

It's been posted before under its original file name, but here it is fresh.

Also mentioned in previous post, the dxf offsets correctly in DeskCNC and CamBam on this Dell.

Hi Chip,

Here's a saved .Lcam project with all the ops I'm after, and a sample of working G-code for the outside chain.

The outside chain is the one I'm having trouible with. The offset for the outside chain is supposed to be a a profile cut that cuts the piece from the rectangular stock.

In my working version, from DeskCNC, I do 0.060" depth conventional mill passes leaving 0.010" stock. Then a climb mill pass at full depth to clean up the edges.

The five circles to the right are drill cycles. The larger circle to the left is done with a pocketing routine.

Your sample shows a pocketing routine for the outside chain.

Thanks for the quick follow-up,

Paul, Central OR
