Title: setting up Mach3 lathe
Post by: drdjr on May 19, 2007, 03:16:48 PM
I am trying to set up a cnc lathe with Mach3 turn. I used bobcad to do a simple taper.
I set the taper at .015 per pass but the machine tries cut the taper depth in a single pass.
can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong
Thanks

It sounds like you are not getting the roughing code from BobCad... I don't know how to run BobCad at this point but others on the board should be able to help you.
Thanks

If it's something simple like a tapered part, then you should try the turn wizards. You can also use a couple of them and cut and paste the code out to make a combined part. You can also get Mach3 to write code to a DXF, however it won't rough it out, only the finish profile will be coded, which isn't much good unfortunately. This is where you will need Bobcad to post code.
