Title: How to rewind the 4th axis?
Post by: KOLO on March 27, 2016, 08:05:42 AM
Hi,

I'm new to the forum, but have been using Mach3 for a number of years. So far I have been able to find answers on my questions just to search here in the forum. This time I failed :), so I thought I register and ask to see if anybody can help me out.

I'm sure someone has encounter this before and I have a weak memory that I have seen some post about this, but can't find it again. Here's my problem: I'm using a 4th axis CNC and I want to figure out a way to rewind the A-axis between, for example tool, change without having to wait 5 mins for the axis to get back to 0.  After a pass the A-axis can be on a let's say 120 000 deg and that take a while to get back to 0 when the G0 A0 code is executed to before start of a new pass. Any ideas on how to do this in the best way?

Regards,
Kjell

I was hoping someone answered this.  I am having the same issue.  I can get my 4th axis stepper to turn one direction but not the other.  What am I missing?  Device runs CCW fine but wont move with a Neg direction command.

Here is my setup:
Mach3
OX CNC
Warp9 ESS
Port2 connection to KL-4030 stepper driver
Port 2 Pin #1 to Step
Port 2 Pin #2 to Dir
Port 2 Pin #25 to Step (-) and Dir (-)

Hi,
I'm a bit suspicious of the 4th axis driver.

may I suggest as an experiment in the ESS plugin check (uncheck) active low for the DIR pin. The motor should now spin the opposite direction. If it
doesn't it points to a fault in the input circuit of the driver DIR pin. If it does spin the other way that suggests a fault in either the ESS or the BoB in between.
