Title: loading mach3 drivers /windows 7/ 32bit
Post by: Thom2000 on March 01, 2016, 12:21:58 PM
Hello,
I can not load the drivers on an older pc running win7/32bit  After installing mach3 the set-up wiz says no drivers installed.
Any ideas would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Does the PC have an LPT parallel port ?

I may be wrong.
It has a LP1 printer port .

If there is a 25 way Cannon D connector on the rear of the PC then there is a pretty good chance that you have a parallel port (it was many years ago that they discontinued using those connectors for serial communication).

Assuming you do then run DriveTest.exe (Mach3 folder) and see if that cures the problem.

I did that too and it says no drivers detected.
I have 5 of these pcs. And they say the same thing.

Re-install Mach3 and run the install as Administrator.
Follow the on-screen instructions for also loading the parallel port driver.

If you have already done that and it makes no difference then sorry but I have run out of suggestions.

Just how 'old' is the PC?
Is the parallel port enabled in BIOS?
Is it set correctly in BIOS?

look in the device manager, see if there is in fact an LPT port installed in hardware.  it maybe disabled in BIOS.

The 25 pin "D" connector Tweakie refers to MUST be a female connector for it to be a parallel port connector, otherwise it is most likely a serial port connector (which can be either a 25 pin of 9 pin variety).

I just went through getting my long used XP 32-bit Windows PC running Mach3 w/XBox joy-stick controller running again after upgrading it to Windows 7 32-bit, so if I can be any help let me know.
