Title: Artsoft sold??
Post by: Jarhead on March 01, 2016, 08:24:28 AM
Can someone correct this for me?
There's a story going around that says Mach4 was sold to a "local company".
Don't know what that means but it doesn't sound right. I would think Artsoft would need to be sold, not Mach4, but it does bring up some reasons as to why Mach4 is so absolutely screwed up.
So, is there any truth to this "rumor"?

Hi:

Sure, but that's not the entire rumor, from what I hear...

Mach4 was sold to the Trump corporation for 7.6 million dollars, it was then repackaged as a
derivative product and subdivided into lots of 100 units each for transport over the Caucasian mountains
in baskets carried by rhesus monkeys. Upon arrival each unit was boiled in a sauce made from the
sweat of muskrats forced to build slave pits in the blazing sun. The wife of one of those Muskrats
was once thought to be the cousin of a guy somewhere, but that's not important.  What one needs to focus
on is the relative ease with which a local company managed to find some guys cousin who claims to
own all 100 shares each contained in a basket. From which, one can only deduce with perfect logic, that this
rumour was created by a basket case. :)

Im sorry, Art was last seen being hustled from the building by persons unknown in Dark suits. He was reputed
to have been babbling something about dark energy and metadata solutions.. but the rumor is that he
was taken hostage by an insane tribe of rhesus monkeys angry about some basket business or other..
please dont repeat it, its how rumors get started..

Sincerly,

I'm sure this is funny to someone...

So are you the Art in Artsoft?

It is HILARIOUS!!!  Thanks Art, err...  Susehr.  The levity is appreciated.  :)

Oh wait...  I'm supposed to be unemployed too!  Probably fired by Trump.  Anyway...  I can't remember.

>>I'm sure this is funny to someone...

I doubt that very much. It sounds like the twisted ravings of a mental patient
to me.

>>So are you the Art in Artsoft?

Well, I guess that begs the philosophical question..what IS Art, really? Yes, I guess
one could say I invented the term ArtSoft, but as to if I'm actually the "Art" in ArtSoft, Id
have to think from an existential point of view that would be whomever is currently responsible
for the artistic expression within that organization. I'm long retarded...sorry, retired, and
my comments should reflect on none other than myself.  The last thing Id desire is to cast
aspersions on any particular rhesus out there. Most I know, are well connected...

So should you really even be responding here then??
I mean, sure it's funny to make jokes but if someone asks a question about the state of a company he invested money in.... Is it really something to make fun of? How about just answering the question? And if you can't, then why respond?
If it were your company, I'd say that goes a long way in explaining the current state of your product.

You know, Id have to say that Im not sure science has yet perfected any means of measuring a value so small
as the thinness of your skin. My responce was a small touch of humour in a humourless world. I failed to understand
the earth shattering importance of your query, which seemed much more an attempt, as a very similar question posted
only a few months back, to suggest some sort of instability of a company.
This, of course, Im sure was not your intent, just as the premise of your "current state of your product" statement which
followed. But your entirely correct of course, the sad state of Mach, currently used by  hundreds of thousands of people
in over 170 countries as well as its ubiquity among topics in all areas of CNC speaks volumes as to my horrible attitude and
the rather poor way Ive treated people over time. All I can do for my part is beg forgiveness, slink to my corner
and seek absolution from an unforgiving world.
Your answer, and I again apologize for any earlier attempts at humour, is NO. I hope the simple brevity
of this answer makes up for any slights... I fear I have damaged forever our relationship.. Ill go now...NO!, dont answer,
dont look back.. its simply too painfull. Im gone now.. its as if I was never here...

Man, I have been asking to get fired for years! Tell Trump I will be out due to a loss time accident, I got a massive source code cut when I brushed against the PC. I think with some time on my own island drinking rum by the gallon I should pull through in 5-10 years.

Was that really so hard to do??
I don'ty know anything of an earlier post and for you to think that everyone on here knows of every post is a little (being nice here) ridiculous.
And believe me, my skin is just fine.

LOL, North American reference. Google : "Reese's Pieces" , a native alternative to the more
mature brand of Rhesus Pieces.. though both have near identical taste.

I havn't been into CNC for many years now, and yet I still marvel at the legacy of Artsoft and how it truly affected the WORLD in bringing CNC to the masses, where it once was an elite game.
It still amazes me how a man sitting in his shed could have made such a massive difference globally, especially for developing countries. Its my dream to be like that.
In my books, Art and Artsoft are unsung hero's.
Regards Benny (Hi guys, its been a while :) )

Benny!

  You old hound dog. :-)

Nice to hear from down under..  Small world, was thinking of you the other day,
(I wrote a screen designer recently and thought how proud you'd be that I used gradient blushes,
shrinkable graphics and leds and such. All a legacy of the Benny years.. :-)

Your right about M3,in over 170 countries, I figure about a quarter million users worldwide and a countless
number of small business's, spinoffs and machines sellers who began ( even if they no longer use m3)
as a result of the ubiquity of printer ports in those years.  Do an ebay search for mach3, ... amazing.. I plucked
a word from the air, and it became a larger word.

>>It still amazes me how a man sitting in his shed could have made such a massive difference globally

LOL, it wasn't one man in his shed, it was one man in his basement dungeon with a crazy Australian who loved
music and graphics (you), a few Americans who decided to join in ( Brian, Brett )and a few Brit's like John Stevenson,
Steve Blackmore and John Prentice.  And then there were the OEM vendors, like Dan Mauch, the first to convince me
to allow others to sell Mach3 along with Peter Homann with his ModIO. And probably about a dozen others originals,
We started as a small group, but we DID get awful large. :-) .
To me those will always be the best of times.. Somehow, in some way, a confluence of time and space
brought together a core group of people who did, I think, change the cnc world. I know it would have happened
anyway, in its own time and with some other group, but I have to say, I feel honored and privileged to
have been selected by fate for that group.

Its good to hear from you, brings back pleasant memories.

>>Its my dream to be like that.

You accomplished that dream a long time ago... :-)

Art,
I couldn't have made thousands of flute stands in the last 10 years without your great Mach3 product. Small businesses around the world owe YOU a debt of gratitude for opening our eyes to unlimited possibilities in low cost manufacturing! I use Mach3 daily and can't imagine my shop without it. It would not exist!
 Many,many,many Thanks!
