Title: Auto Zero Touch off issues
Post by: Toad on February 19, 2016, 03:05:14 PM
Hi all.
I have started having issues with my auto zero.
When I click on auto tool zero, the tool moves down as it should, but when it touches the touch off plate it does not always respond. The Digitize LED comes on every time in the diagnostics screen, but the spindle keeps going down. Most of the time it works correctly, other times it is ignored.
I tried reloading the edit script again, but makes no difference.
Any thoughts on what may be going on.

Thanks,

Toad

Do you have soft limits enabled when doing this?
If so, disable it and try again.

soft limits are not enabled.
Could it be in the BOB? When plate is grounded, LED on BOB lights up as well.

Here it is, I have tried others, and all do the same. Usually when it messes up, I can reset mach, and it will work correctly

Did it work correctly in the past?
What version of Mach3?

Version 3.043.066

It has been working fine up to about a week ago.

Try 3.043.062.
Several people using the auto zero in my screenset have had issues with that version when using a smoothstepper.

I found it & Downloaded, Now when I touch to ground, the BOB LED lites up, so does the Diagnostics screen LED  , I checked connections and they appear to be tight and secure. but it does not work.

After resetting a few times, it went  and touched off, and stopped transmitting data. Done this 3 times. The next  three times, it worked correctly. Double checked all of my connections on the Smoothstepper, but could not detect any thing loose, unplugged ribbon cable and re connected, started back up. I started Mach and checked again, When it touched plate it stopped and lost data. had to reset, the next three times it did not work.

Toad,

Have a go with Tweakies http://www.cooperman.talktalk.net/files/17.htm, copied and pasted into mach3 and has never missed a beat, just scroll down to the bottom of the page

AH the  first mention of a SmoothStepper (;-)  What you are seeing appears to be a smoothstepper problem NOT a mach3 problem. You might want to check over at teh SS forum for help on that.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Are you using the latest SS plugin?

The people I've seen with the apparently same issue didn't have any problems when using 3.043.062.

Installed latest update of ESS Smoothstepper, seems to be working correctly now.
You are right, I needed to go with Mach ver. R2.043.062 for it to work correctly.
Thanks Ger21 and BR549
