Title: Spindle or index

Hello!

i'm working on a lathe. For threading i need to time the spindle and i came caross two inputs. Timing and Index.
Can anyone please explain to me what is the difference?

Use the Index which is a single pulse per rev.

The Timing I believe has been done away with due to there being no benefit to using it over the Index.
