Title: Feed Hold stopped working.
Post by: moto52000 on January 30, 2016, 11:52:17 AM
Hi all,  the feed hold (and space bar) stopped working.  Keyboard, mouse, pendant and touchscreen are all USB and I've been having fits with USB failing for the pendant but start, stop etc all work but feed hold does nothing.  Any ideas how to resolve this.
I'm running Mach3 R3.043.066 with windows XP

Thanks for reading.

Maybe more info will spark some memories for a fix.  I've reloaded Mach3 and confirmed the issue is not the G-Code from CamBam (ran fine on another mill).  Any ideas where to look for this setting?

Thanks.
Glen

Well I seem to be having a conversation with myself  :D
I was able to get the feed hold to function by reverting back to mach3 version .022.  Was running .066 and had nothing but problems compared to my X2 mill that runs .022.  Should be good to go... for now anyway.

Maybe this will help someone down the road.

Hi Glen,

I did read your first post on the day but I don't think this particular issue with 'feed-hold' has ever been reported as a problem before.

Although I have never had any problems with v.066 (but I do use an earlier version most of the time) there have been many reports of various issues that have been overcome by reverting back to v.062, yours is perhaps another to add to the list. Thanks for reporting back with your solution.

Tweakie.

Moto52000, did you have any luck?
This is the exact issue I'm currently having, I need to upgrade from v040 to v062 min. to fix an issue, but when I do I lose the ability to use the feed hold reliably.
This is just my topic related to this: http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,32428.0.html

If you are using an external motion controller other then the printer port, Feed hold will have to run the buffer out of the motion controller before it stops the machine.  This could be a couple of seconds worth of movement.
I get asked this question alot with the UC100/300`s and smoothsteppers (both USB and Ethernet).

The buffer has to run out so that there is no position errors when everything comes to a halt.
