Title: WINDOWS 7 AND MACH 3
Post by: Naijin on December 22, 2015, 07:43:35 PM
Hi there,I have just inherited a computer, it is running windows 7, my question is:- are there any problems with it, is anyone else out there using windows 7? the computer does not have an LPT port but I understand that the port cards are still available and are very easily installed

Regards
Nick

Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?
You can't use the parallel port with a 64 bit OS.

It's a 32 bit system with one empty PCI slot,

I had loads of problems getting a parallel port to work, gave up in the end and got a uc100 motion controller it's simply a dongle to convert usb to parallel in the Bob
Works great and easy to set up but a little costly, but it may take you several tries to find a card which works

I run with Windows 7 32 bit with no issue.  Using the built in parallel port works fine.  However the second parallel port (for pendant) was a real pain to get going, I essentially had to use a very old driver to make it work.

When I get a pendant it will be wireless or usb I think the second lpt is then not needed

Thanks to everyone for their inputs and experiences with W7 and LPT port, I may have to re-think on that
