Title: Wiring plasma trigger to spindle relay
Post by: Toes on December 03, 2015, 08:26:46 AM
Hi all have just finished building a cnc plasma with eBay sourced parts v5 BOB  cw5045 controllers and nema 23 steppers
Have it all running and tested with a marker in torch holder ,it has been a steep learning curve as this is my first venture into the
world of cnc .I am now ready to hook up plasma and was wondering if any one has any suggestion on wiring the plasma trigger to spindle
relay output on the BOB ,should I run it through an external relay first any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi shoar I wound up just splicing the two wires from the trigger to the spindle relay on the breakout board seem to work great .
Make sure ur spindle output is enabled in mach3 first and rest it before u hook up plasma you should hear it click on and off
When you click the torch fire button on the Mach screen .
As for the return height issue I'm using sheetcam for my g code generator and I use the mp1000 with scribe post processor
And I have a floating head on Z axis you just need to do a bit of editing on cut and pierce heights and you can set ur safe return height
In sheetcam aswell

Couple things to check before we start measure the travel u have in your floating head from when the switch triggers to when the head stops going down . I don't have a thc at the moment either but my setup auto zeros the head at every pierce

No worries in the mean time I'll screen shot my edits and settings and post them for u then you'll just need to change distances in the post to
Suit your floating head .am happy to help as I no it can be daunting trying to figure it out lol I nearly cried a couple of times
