 Will the demo prg allow you to run a machine albeit restricted

Yes, but limited to 500 lines of g-code, and a few features that are disabled, like Run From Here.

Thanks for that Gerry
My problem now appears to be with the parrell port not communicating with the  Breakout board  the stepper motor is all wired correct .
Using Windows XP on a tower  the software is loaded the drivers are ok and the axis movement records on  X  Y  Z

Take it your still having problems, so have you selected the correct parallel port in the config settings and checked the driver is giving the correct pulse.
