Title: Mach 3 or Parellel Port Issue
Post by: slinghit on September 04, 2015, 03:05:46 PM
I had my CNC machine set up and working, and my hard drive went.   I have a new computer, Windows 7. 32 bit with parallel port that I added.   I loaded the drives to the computer for the parallel port and it says ok.    I went into properties and found the drive location and entered it into Mach 3, I put the pins in, scale, enabled where I remembered.     When the computer starts up you can hear the stepper motors engage with a slight noise but they will not move with the G code.

The PCI I/O range is EC00-EC07 and EC880-E887, I used EC00.

Mach 3, if I check it says pins not enabled.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Jay ???

Check the technical specifications of the parallel port, unless it's 5v logic you can have problems and most recent PP cards use 3.3v,

Nick,

You are right, the PCI board is 3.3V.    I will see if I can get the correct one.

I really appreciate you responding, very helpful.
