Title: Vibrating Motors
Post by: 3Dsigns on August 24, 2015, 03:36:39 PM
My hotwire foam cutter is close to being operational. But the motors on the x axis are vibrating/rattling. I found something once which explained "resonance" but I don't see anything in the motor tuning feature iof Mach3. maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Thanks.
Here's the machine....

little bit hard to see from the vid, but if you have chain drive ....i found setting one end with vernier calipers ( so they both start at the same place ) and adjusting the  tension at the other end solved my problems ...looks like a cool machine.

Thanks
I don't know if this makes any difference but, it's timing belt drive.

my gut feeling is that rubber teeth would be less forgiving
slacken off one side  and see if anything changes ,  that way you can put it back how it was .
i found tension not as important as tuning and lubing my links .
see if some silicone spray or baby powder makes a difference ?

Thanks. The noise/vibration is in the motors.

Hi 3Dsigns,

Are the motors sometimes noisy when stationary ?
