Post by: georgethewelder on August 21, 2015, 06:56:32 PM
Hello all
I have a fairly new 5'X10' CNC plasma table I am doing pretty well drawing in auto cad (self taught just keep trying stuff ) but now I want to cut 6'' donuts with about a four inch hole and the sides don't come out even any body can help me ?

                                                                                                        Thanks
                                                                                           George

IF the circles look ROUND in CAD and look round in CAM and look round in the control toolpath then it is a machine problem. It could be backlash OR axis calibration.  OR both.

Is it belt drive, direct drive, screw drive???

Check for slack belts, loose pinions(not always easy to find), loose pulleys etc first

I would then carry out axis step calibration on all axes.

Does the error get worse the more you run - loosing steps or is it just wrong all the time - see above.
