I just upgraded to Windows 10 (from Windows 7), and now have issue with running Mach 3. The error I get is "Attempted_Write_to_Readonly_Memory(mach3.sys)". Computer then goes through reboot. Anyone else having same issue? Solutions? Not sure if it is Mach3 compatibility or Windows bug.

mine runs ok, 10 from 8.1

Yes I am experiencing this exact problem now, does anybody have a solution for it?

Hi all, as a total newcomer to Mach3 I downloaded it for a trial.
I am pulling my hair out trying to get Mach3 to install and run on the latest version of Win 10 (32bit). I have tried compatibility modes for win7 and XP (Also for the install) but the system now boots as though it is running through mud / treacle and when I try to run Mach3 I get a BSOD error - tried to write to readonly memory - and the system crashes repeatedly.
Did annatara find a solution?
Thanks in advance of any help
Richard
(Not a lot of chance of my buying a license at the moment)

If you are trying to use the parallel port, it won't work in Windows 10 (or 8). You need to use Windows 7 32 bit or older.
If you want to use Windows 10, you need a motion controller like a UC100 or Smoothstepper.

I have windows 10 64 bit and Mach3 works great except, My machine is set up for inches and the DRO's look as if they are in inches but the machine runs in mm. Example: Tool probe tool sets the DRO's to an offset of 0.785 "measurement of my probe switch" but when I hit go to zero it only moves approx. 1 mm. Is there any work around for this?

Hi,
try coding a G20 at the MDI line and try again.

Thanks for the reply but I tried the G20 code and it still does the same

Hi,
provide details on ballscrew pitch, belt reduction and microstepping regime and we will
recalculate the steps per unit value and compare with what you have.
Just as a matter of interest would you check Mach's native units.

HI,
I'm new to Mach3 and I'm using version 2.0 Demo. I have a Crosfire table and the company has given us plugins to add and and update for Windows 10. My issue is I post my file in Fusion 360 and upload to MACH3 and I'm receiving Generate tool path. It freezes at that point. Also, no display of my project. Can anyone help me please?

If you are new to Mach3, why are you using a 10 year old version?
Afaik, the only version known to work with Windows 10 is the latest version 3.043 listed on the Machsupport website.
-
This is the version the company that made the table gave us to download. We did everything they told us to do. I will ask Langmuir why we have the old version. Not sure to be truthful. Struggling with this process for sure. I'm reading not to upgrade to the version for Windows 10 it crashes. I can't seem to get anything to work. The display won't come up and I think I'm getting correct posting via Fusion 360. No errors.
Ugh very frustrated for sure! Thank you for getting back with me.

Looking at their site, it looks like they are supplying a cheap chinese controller that only works with very old versions of Mach3. Did they supply a pirated license as well?
I don't recommend using any Chinese made Mach3 controllers, as they all have issues. To sell a machine with them reflects poorly on the company.
If you must run that control, I'd try running it on Windows XP. Maybe windows 7 32 bit.
Your chances of getting it to work in Windows 10 are very slim.
The only version of Mach3 that will even run in Windows 10 on most PC's is the latest version.

Hi,
It looks like when I actually do the download from the site it states MACH3 v 3.02 or something like that. When I open MACH3 it says 2.0 professional version. I did download all the pieces on my Windows 7 machine and I'm still getting the same display in MACH3. I'm wondering if the display would be different if connected to the table. I'm trying to look at the display on the laptop at my desk. What are your thoughts?
I know when i load the GCode from my desk I can't zero out the XY. I'm thinking that might be some of my issue as well.
Thanks again for your time with me.

Hi,
I just saw this post on another site. Do you know if this is true? Mach3 Demo version will only show 500 lines of code? If that's the case it might explain why my project isn't showing up. I have Demo version. My files are purchased files so I bet they're more than 500 lines of code.
Bev

Yes, in demo mode Mach3 will only display (and run) 500 lines of code.
-
So with that being said we should purchase the license version correct? I looked at the GCode and I see our files are a lot larger than 500 lines. Do you have the licensed version? Is it pretty easy to go from Demo to Licensed version? Not sure how that works to be truthful.
-
The Mach3 license is supplied as a file which you un-zip and copy to your Mach3 folder. When you re-start Mach3 it will be the licensed version.
-
So with that being said we should purchase the license version correct?
Imo, no one should even be considering Mach3 for a new machine. It's basically 10 year old, unsupported software.
Either pay a little more, and go with Mach4.
Or go with one of the competition, many of which are arguably better, and cost as little as 1/3 the price.
Either option, though, will require a new control card which would be an additional $125-$200.
