Title: X axis reversed

Hi firstly I am totally new to cnc
I have setup mach3 in demo mode and all the axis move in the correct directions via the comp keyboard but when I press tab and call out the jog controls the x-axis moves the wrong direction
If I reverse the direction in the limits page all that does is now the axis moves correct on the jog controls but reversed on the keyboard
The same thing happens if I change the direction in the ports and pins page.
So has anyone got any suggestions as how to cure this.

Hi Bill,

I am not sure you are getting this right because...
Direction relates to how the cutter moves with regard to the work rather than the travel of the machine parts (if I could explain this better then I would).

However, to overcome the particular problem that you mention then you could try reversing the keyboard assignments for the X axis in Config / System Hotkeys.

Hi Tweakie that is what I have done
Before I reversed it in the homing page I did a test run on a small disc without cutter using bottom left as the start it went to the left instead of the right but after reversing it was ok.

how do you change the system hotkeys?   when I go there they cant be changed.

doesn't make sense.

Why can't they be changed? Just click on whichever axis direction you want to assign a key to, then hit the key you want to use and hit enter. Hot keys should be on the drop down config box.
