Title: plasma start/stop switch
Post by: bteigrob on June 05, 2015, 03:37:38 PM
Anyone got any advice on how to set up the plasma on/off switch in mach 3? Been tracing with the machine trying to figure out all the g-code and everything and really happy now. Went out and bought a hypertherm with the machine torch and now just need to setup so that the computer/controller can start and stop the arc. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance

You would setup the spindle control In mach3 and set the port/pin for the output signal. Then wire in the plasma machine relay that controls Arc start to those outputs from Mach3.

THEN when you command M3 the torch should fire and M5 the torch will shut off.

the outputs from Mach 3 run into a Gecko G540 controller. Can I get a torch on/off signal from the G540?

is the light on the torch on/off supposed to stay illuminated when switched on? or is is supposed to blink on and off?
