Title: Ecoca PC1840 Lathe: New and first Mach project

Hello all,
Obviously this is my first Mach project. I have been reading about Mach 3 since I got my first converted Webb 10x50 knee mill last year, it is a 3 axis Webb 10x50 with Anilam Crusader II controller. The controller doesn't work worth a damn, I will get to that retrofit after this lathe. I just purchased this lathe, it is an Ecoca PC1840 CNC lathe. Apparently it has a ITRI PC based controller on it with Mitsubishi servos, and controllers. It came from a vocational school, and the steel is in great shape. From what I was told the school got it, a student screwed up the controller and tried to fix it. It has been sitting since, and now it is in my garage.  The intent is to see how far I can get with the controller on there for parts, etc. I am looking for some advice on where to start with the Mach 3 conversion. I am in Temecula Ca and have a shop that is strictly hobby, no business here just cars and machines.  I am looking for someone that is possibly interested in helping with this retrofit and conversion. The perks would be access to all the machinery and welders I have plus instruction if needed on a case by case basis. I do have 208/120 three phase in the shop now. Machine specifics:

Mitsubishi MDS-A-SPJA-75RT spindle controller  
Mitsubishi MR-J2-100A  X axis controller
Mitsubishi MR-J2-70A    Y axis controller

ITRI MIRL UERRO controller

Hi,

i think first step will be to get much manuals of the used controler's
as possible.

mitsubishi anyway, and ITRI as well.
maybe you can get a wiring diagram from Ecoca.
as more informations you get from the existing system, as easier it
will be to convert.

I would work HARD to get the original controller back working as it will have features that mach3 does not have or does not work well in TURN.

Just because a"student" could not repair it means NOTHING in the real world.

I am trying to get manuals for the machine and the controller, but it is not looking good at this point. I am going to have to start to seriously looking into this conversion more at this point. Would Mach 4 be better than Mach 3?

What are the limitations that Mach 3 has that may be a problem with a conversion like this?
