Title: Mach 3 upgrade
Post by: james g on April 19, 2007, 05:25:52 PM
Hello,
I'm new to the forum though I have been running Mach 2 for a couple of years now. I'm considering upgrading to Mach 3, primarily because of the single block in cutter comp "bug". I've been bitten a couple of times by this bug. The problem is that I use my machine to produce income, and I don't want to risk screwing things up. Therefore I have a couple of questions:

---- Is the single block in cutter comp mode thing truly "fixed" in the latest version of Mach 3?

---- Can I load Mach 3 onto the same computer I'm running Mach 2 on?

-----Is there any way to transfer the configuration information from Mach 2 to Mach 3?

---- Can I still continue running Mach 2 during the time period needed to configure, become comfortable with, and change over to Mach 3?

---- If the answer to the previous question is yes.......Are there any things that I need to be careful of that could render Mach 2 useless during the changeover period? ( aside from my own stupidity)

I realize that that was more than a couple of questions, but I really don,t have the time to go back and reconfigure, test, and de-bug Mach 2 if something goes wrong. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

not sure on single block as I dont use it but think it is.
Yes you can have both on the same computer but can only use one or other
No, only way is to write down config then shut Mach2 and open Mach3 and enter the details.
Yes Mach2 lives happily alongside Mach3 as long as you dont try and use both at the same time.
No, you shouldnt have any problems but it is always safer to copy your xml file to another drive or cd or whatever, that way if things do go wrong you have a backup of all your settings.

Also might want to back up any screen sets you use. Standard sets will be restored in their new download. If you have customized yours any, you might want to back it up as well.
