Title: Mach3 Lathe - Can't Cut Straight 45 degree Angles
Post by: MRM RCModels on March 16, 2015, 04:11:40 PM
All,

I've upgraded my DM-300 lathe to mach 3. There are irregularities when cutting 45 degree angles (see attached pic). I thought the problem was hardware, but thought it maybe mach3 when looking at the cut preview window (see neon highlighted area in pic). The cut part looks EXACTLY like this. I tightened everything on the machine just to make sure and it is still occurring.

Anyone ever run into something like this before?

Software version is 3.043.066.

Thanks Guys!

I would suggest you do not use 066, for a lathe in particular, it has issues with tool wear offsets amongst other things, that however is not your problem here.

The toolpath view is just a representation and thus will show irregularities.
It is most likely a mechanical issue, assuming the code is fine.
It may also be a resolution issue if your steps per unit are unusually course.
