hi
I'm new to Mach 3 is there an easy way to set different cutting depths in the same part file with out haveing to edit g codes? i had a shop-bot and in their software all i had to do was assign the depth to what ever colors i had drawn in the part file. simply. if i have two circles in a file how do i mill one deeper than the other one
thanks giosig

If it's a .dxf, put each circle on it's own layer and set the layer depth during import. Or download LazyCAM from the downloads section and try that.
-
thanks but how do you get each circle on a seprate layer. i can't seem to seperate them
thanks again

click on the circle in LCam and you will see some cutting data pop up on the right side. There is a place to set the depth of each chain regardless of the layer...
-
thanks
when i set the depth for the first one and try to change the depth for the second one it changes the first one to the same as the second. i'm not doing something right

Is this in Lazy Cam? IF it is Please type the settings that you would like to change in to the selected chain properties on the righthand side.
IF you need I can get you a pic or I will do a video...

in lazy cam
i click on the first circle
#of chains 2
layers1
primitives2
chain id 0
cut#1
depth 1.00
i click on the second circle
#of chains 2
layers1
primitives2
chain id 1
cut#1
depth 1.00
if i change the depth on one the second one changes over and matches the depth of the other one as you can see
a vid would be great
also when i run a program in mach 3 it'll run for a while and then start jerking or stop. coulde this be a ram issue. i have 168 megs on the computer or a windows problem. i've tried to strip wn2000 down the the min.
thanks for the help giosig
