Looking for help regarding a number of problems with a Dell laptop running win 8 and Mach3. Worked OK up until I installed DELL software auto updater. Since then I have the following issues:
1. Abnormal condition alarm: one or more axis enabled or disabled.
2. Remote pendant will not work
3. Cont jog only yields small steps (ALL AXIS)
4 (as a result of 3) will not "ref all home".
Both Mach3 software and plug in (smoothstepper) have latest drivers. Also motot outputs in ports & pins have xyz enabled
Any ideas guys?

Laptop's are not recomended unless using an external motion device. Software shoud never be running in the background for a computer in use
for CNC purposes.

Do you have an answer to my actual query?
BTW, I have been using laptops on cnc for over 10 years. Only people that do not know how to change/understand the power management on laptops say not to use them! I changed my laptop to never sleep/standby and always have the mains lead in when running lengthy progs ...... and I have never had a stall.

For your first question, go to Operator > Set Normal Condition. A better idea is to remove the "abnormal condition" from the screenset. All it does is notify you if you change ANYTHING.

Based on you saying that you added software, which may be running in the background, that could create problems.
Why address specific problems when the source may be the problem?

Not really true, totaly false. We have have tried probably 10 different laptops and would say 7 of them did not work well. I have an old one with a PP
that works fine, but extremely slow, so gave up on that one.
BTW,
Did you ever read ArtSofts recomendations on PC's?
That's where I was coming from. ;)
